Making meal prep easier and more sustainable in everyday life!
MAKE TIME FOR MEAL PREP
Most people like to use Sundays as the day to get this all ready and it makes sense as you have everything ready for the week. Take a couple of hours out of your Sunday and get the shopping and cooking done so it can save you time during the week.
WHAT DOES YOUR WEEK LOOK LIKE?
Be organized and proactive. Check your schedule for the week and see what you have on. Have a look to see if you have anything on could be a birthday dinner, and event or just a work do. Make sure you factor in these things so you know how many days of prep you need.
MIX IT UP
Keep your meals creative so you don’t get bored of what you are eating throughout the week. Think of different herbs and spices also sauces as well for your meals. Get some inspiration through social media or tv.
GET PROPER CONTAINERS
Picking the right containers is a must. Make sure they have lids that can seal tight to prevent the food from spilling.
PREPARE YOUR PROTEIN
If you are wanting to use a couple of different meats in your meals throughout the week cook these all in one day and store them in the fridge. Some ideas of protein you could use for wraps, salads or sandwiches are eggs, chicken, black beans or lean beef. Meat proteins can be kept in the fridge for about 3-4 days.
ORGANISE YOUR FRIDGE
With all your meals prepped for the week make sure you have enough fridge space for all of it. First thing you should do is put the meals you will eat first at the front and the meals end of week at the end at the back.
PRINT A PLAN OR REMINDERS IN YOUR PHONE
To make sure you are on track with your meals you should keep a record on your phone or in a diary, so you know what you’re having each day. Reminders or alarms on your phone for meats you might need to defrost for upcoming day is another good idea.
LESS SHOPPING MORE COOKING
Shop once per week and this will help you waste less food since your sticking to your plan for meals.
