How will I know when I've had too much protein in my diet?

  1. Are you feeling super thirsty for H20? When you have eaten too much protein, your kidneys have to work double time to flush it out of your system, so this can make you feel extra thirsty.
  2. Constipation - Cutting out fibre can lead to issues with digestion which includes constipation.
  3. Possible weight gain. When you focus on just protein you end up over-doing on calories. People tend to increase their portion size when it comes to their meats or supplements without removing anything else so they’re eating more calories than burning.  That excess amount of protein will just store as fat.
  4. If your lacking energy, the afternoon slump is real. Do you have the feeling of the day rolling and reaching for coffee? This could be the amount of protein in your system that is causing you to be a bit glazed. Overeating protein mean displacing your actual carbs.
  5. Bad breath is a sign of having too much protein as the ketones are to blame.
